As Vice Chairman of the Energy and Commerce Committee, I am committed to reforming our health care system to reduce costs and expand access to quality care for all Americans. Since the debate started, I have been one of the strongest opponents of the Affordable Care Act. Since its implementation, it has raised premiums for individuals and families, and hurt job creation and small businesses. I am committed to repealing this burdensome law which was forced on the American people and failed its own promises. I will support legislation which protects patient-doctor relationships and keeps decisions about healthcare in your hands, not in the hands of bureaucrats in D.C. On May 4th, the H.R. 1628, the American Health Care Act, passed the House. I voted for this legislation and will work with my colleagues in the Senate to get this bill to the President’s desk.
