Congressman Joe Barton’s office is currently accepting applications for internships in the Washington D.C. and Arlington offices for July and August. This is a great opportunity for college students, recent graduates and others who are interested in an insider’s view of the legislative process and the daily operations of a congressional office.  Typical intern responsibilities in the D.C. office include: leading tours of the U.S. Capitol, fielding calls from constituents, administrative tasks, attending congressional hearings and briefings, and assisting staff in a variety of projects including research, writing and editing. Interns in the Arlington office have the opportunity to interact with staff and constituents, help research and write letters, and take care of daily administrative tasks.

All candidates should possess great oral and written communication skills, be highly motivated, demonstrate knowledge of computer applications, maintain a positive attitude and show initiative. Those with Texas ties are preferred, but all may apply. Interested candidates should send a cover letter and resume to Daniel.Rhea@mail.house.gov.
