I am firmly against this overreach and will continue to defend the Second Amendment and Texan's rights to protect themselves and their families.

Rep. Joe Barton (R-Ennis) released the following statement in response to President Obama’s announcement on executive action to restrict gun rights in America.

“Yet again, we see President Obama’s constitutional overreach of power – this time on gun control. The Obama Administration continues to ignore the will of the people and circumvent Congress for it’s own political goals. I am firmly against this overreach and will continue to defend the Second Amendment and Texan’s rights to protect themselves and their families.”

Barton’s voting record reflects strong support of the Second Amendment with a consistent A rating from the National Rifle Association. Today, Congressman Barton became an original cosponsor of legislation introduced by Representative Marlin Stutzman (R-IN) in the House to rescind the president’s executive actions.
