I commend Chairman Pitts and Chairman Upton for scheduling this hearing to advance the ACE Kids Act. The ACE Kids Act will help very sick, medically complex children and their families, by coordinating and streamlining care. This leads to shorter hospital stays and overall improved outcomes for these children.

Today,Chairman Emeritus Joe Barton (R-TX) released the following statement on a hearing scheduled for Thursday, July 7th in the House Energy and Commerce, Subcommittee on Health, entitled “Examining the Advancing Care for Exceptional Kids Act.”

“I commend Chairman Pitts and Chairman Upton for scheduling this hearing to advance the ACE Kids Act. The ACE Kids Act will help very sick, medically complex children and their families, by coordinating and streamlining care. This leads to shorter hospital stays and overall improved outcomes for these children.

“When my colleagues and I introduced this bill, we knew it was the right thing to do. I have met with dozens of medically complex children and their families across Texas and I can tell you firsthand – the last thing these families need is more bureaucratic red tape and obstacles. This bill helps remove these inefficiencies and allows the most qualified children’s hospitals and providers to do what they do best – help children get well.”

For the notice of the hearing please see https://energycommerce.house.gov/hearings-and-votes/hearings/examining-advancing-care-exceptional-kids-act . Chairman Emeritus Barton is eager to advance this bipartisan bill through the final legislative stages and ensure it reaches President Obama’s desk.
